There was a lot of buzz leading up to this weekend, and rightfully so: It’s Memorial Day! It’s a three day weekend! It’s the unofficial start of summer! Sasquatch!
But I’m laying low this weekend – taking it easy and giving myself a bit of a break from all of the studying and some of the working. And, honestly, I’m trying to gear up for the epic-ness that’s going to happen NEXT weekend, June 3-5. There are so many great events going on that I don’t know how I’m going to get through all of them!
I haven’t been so excited for an antiques show in… well, ever! The Farm Chicks is hosting their annual Antiques Show on Saturday and Sunday, and you can bet I’ll be there trying to fill my truck with glorious antiques and hand-crafted items.
Elkfest will also be happening all weekend in Browne’s Addition. Closing down Cannon, making beer gardens on the sidewalks, and listening to some (mostly local) bands take the stage into the night? Heck. Yes. This is such a fun event every year and I can’t wait to see all the people out an about, dancing and drinking.
Browne’s Addition is really the place to be next weekend, because down the street from Elkfest will a wondrous park filled with Artfest, one of the best arts and crafts shows that I’ve seen in the Inland Northwest (rivaled only by Art on the Green). More beer and music await here as well.
And why not end the weekend with some wine? Vintage Spokane promises to be a fun wine-filled event that will fill the shoes of (discontinued on the East side) Taste Washington. I’d love to spend a Sunday night tasting some delicious – and local – food and wine, especially since it’s for such a good cause!
So you all keep keeping on with your barbecues and your beaches, but I’m waiting for next weekend! If you happen to be in Spokane, definitely check out some of these events and festivals; if you’re not in Spokane, next weekend is a great time to visit!
