This is the first year I’ve really decorated our place for Christmas – normally, we’re dashing off to multiple cities, nearly getting stranded because of weather emergencies and barely having time to breath in our hometowns let alone decorate the home that we scarcely see.
With 2010 being our first (married) Christmas, though, I wanted to make it special. And even though we got the tree, hung the wreath, put up some garlands with lights, and carefully placed stockings on our mantle, it’s these little guys that make this place feel like Christmas:
Big Santa and Little Santa were made by Matt’s grandmother, and are now graciously guarding our candy bowl (and keeping me from munching on too many M&Ms!). She passed away a couple of years ago and it means so much to me that we get to put these guys in a place of honor at this time of year. After all, this season is all about love, family, and togetherness, and it’s nice to be reminded of the love we received from those not with us anymore.
Plus, you have to admit, their jolly beards and mustaches are just the cutest thing ever!
More pictures of our first (married) Christmas and decor to come later this week.
